Goat cheese rolls from the oven with Roasted Pepper
You're probably familiar with those delicious fried cheese sticks from your local takeaway, usually made with cheddar or mozzarella. Here we present a healthier, oven-baked option with goats' cheese and honey! Sometimes you only need a few ingredients to prepare something delicious and this recipe is proof of that. Buy a nice piece of firm goats' cheese, cut it into strips and roll them up in filo pastry. The result is a tasty snack that's gorgeous in combination with our Roasted Pepper. Any cheese you have left over can be served on the side. You can achieve a pleasantly surprising taste combination with the addition of a little sweetness, which is why we add some honey in this recipe. Pure, heavenly flavours and ready in no time!
You will need
6 large sheets of filo pastry (spring roll sheets)
150 g firm goats' cheese
2 tbsp honey
1 glug olive oil
1 pack Roasted Pepper
How it's made!
Defrost the filo pastry and preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line the baking tray with a sheet of baking paper.
Slice the goats' cheese into thin slices approximately 1 cm thick. Cut the sheets of pastry in two. Lay a strip of goats' cheese at the end of the filo pastry sheet and drip a little honey over the cheese. Also spread a little honey at the other end of the pastry sheet to ensure it sticks well, and roll up the pastry into a cigar shape.
Do the same for all the pastry sheets and place them on the baking tray with a little space between them. Brush the rolls with a little olive oil. Place them in the oven and bake for 10 minutes or until the rolls become crispy.
Serve with Roasted Pepper on a large serving platter or in a bowl.
